Wittelsbach 2644, bronze, approx 25mm acrosss, Carl Theodor Freiherr von Hallberg-Broich (1768-1862) acquired Birkeneck Castle near Freising in 1825. In 1827 he came up with a plan to reclaim the moor around Hallberg and found a colony. The king agreed to the plan, but insisted on changing the original name Ludwigsburg to Hallbergmoos. In 1828, the year it was minted, the first house was occupied.
